Fresh Hair + Exams!

Soooo, I've been gone about a week or two due to my laptop's lack of cooperation. I've finally got it in okay working condition, enough to get out of it what I need for school, blogging and photography/art. Speaking of school and art, I've just finished up 2/4 of my exams. My final mark for Graphic Design in 96% earning me the grade 11 award for that. I think I did pretty well on my English exam today, and if I did fantastically, I may have gotten the English award as well. These would be my first high school  awards, actually. Grade 9 and 10 I didn't do so well (I actually got a 50 for my final mark in grade 10 art). This year I'm totally stepping up and game and getting my ass in gear. It's paid off greatly, I can say. All I have left for exams is my maths exam next Monday and my grade 11 art exam on Tuesday. <3

But in other fabulous new, I finally fixed my hair! Bye-bye nasty roots: hello brown perfection! I've been stuck on dying my hair a darker shade for a while now, and I've been extremely indecisive on whether or not to just dye it all black or spare my hair with a near-black shade of brown. Needless-to-say, I went with the latter. I'm obviously heavily basing it on Bettie's hair since hers was so dark, many said she simply had thick, black curls, when it was really just deep, dark brown. And so I went with a shade actually closer to my mum's natural hair colour. Thankfully, my brow pencil is just dark enough to fit the part! C:

So I've been keeping busy working on two art pieces for my ISU (final assignment that's usually orth 5-15% of the final mark). I chose to do a portrait of Bettie and one of Poison Ivy (Ivy Rorschach). See below for more!

Lionize

So back in October my boyfriend and I went to a Streetlight Manifesto concert in Toronto (their first date
for their new tour :D) for our anniversary/his birthday. But along with them on tour was another band; Lionize, who honestly blew us away. I really should have shared this with you guys before. I have a very broad spectrum of taste when it comes to music, so one day I could share some dark folk indie with you guys and the next some ska/post-punk. But Lionize takes the cake with ska-reggae/psychedelic rock. It's rare you see such  raw talent these days, especially if you're not looking for it.

I really wish I had of gotten to bring ym camera or some form of an image-capturing device haha. My camera would have been trashed with the awesome mosh ;__;. Despite that, here's a shot from Theneonmix. If I wasn't 5'5" you'd probably be able to spot me in the bottom left corner, we were that close. Perks of getting there half an hour before the doors open and waiting an hour and a half just for some live show to come on. The tour as actually "The Hand That Thieves" when we went, I think they changed it somewhat through the tour. Read the blog post from Theneonmix, it gives probably the best description of the band and event.

So here are some tracks for you to sample Lionize and Streetlight. Enjoy xo

It's safe to say for myself that I'm also a Modcloth addict. I guarantee you've already figured out, and it's not just because of their drop-dead-gorgeous shoe collection, but their retro aspect and accuracy  Their entire store is filled with dozens upon dozens of beautiful, flirty, retro frocks and cute accessories. I go shopper-crazy. It's without argue one of the top ten places I window shop constantly. I just look at their shoes/dresses and a million ideas come to mind about how I could style it. Wah, I'm endlessly in love ;o ;

Blushing-ly Cute **

Anyway, I just thought I'd share some of my favourite items and see hat you guys think? Do you browse Modcloth occasionally? What are your favourite pieces? Do you like to be retro or romantic, or a little bit of both?

I'll leave you lovely followers with a fab track. Obituary - Agent Ribbons. If you like retro + indie, you'll love this all-lady band <3 xo

Romwe Dressessions

Dress Obsessions!

Rome Dressessions

Short dress, 78 CAD / Short sleeve dress, 75 CAD / Print dress, 49 CAD

I'm definitely one of those people who hopelessly window shop for hours online. It will be the death of me, or my funds, one day. Anyroad, one of my worst sources for such is Romwe. I always find myself looking through their fab dresses. There is always so many unique options, I get lost. Juts thought I'd share with you guys some of the few I've had my heart locked to for the past while. What do you guys think? I personally need some dresses that are appropriate for fall/winter.

Quantity + Quality: Varnish Review

So just before Christmas time I picked up some nail varnishes for myself. I've got to admit, I'm the kind of person who knows what my money can get me. I know when I need to spend more, and I know when I can save myself some cash. I prefer quantity and quality, always. So a little over a year ago I tried Ardene's nail varnish and I was genuinely surprised. I've paid about 4 times the price of one pot for varnish that works no better nor worse. So I tested again by picking up three new colours and a new location to see if the quality is somewhat universal. I got a semi-opaque shimmering gold and black, and an opaque red.
