"Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." ― Roald DahlMeet Jessie Darling round duex. This shoot was quite the mini adventure and I couldn't be happier with the result. A very therapeutic kind of shoot - one that leaves all involved feeling successful, warm and fuzzy <3 which is perfect for the weather as it started to get very cold particularly early here in Canada (surprised?) with full weekends of snow. I thought it was cold the day we shot... these look balmy and glowing. The light was gorgeous and just perfect for fall photos that day, something every photog dreams of.
Perfect for our location as well. Our initial design was to shoot at the pumpkin patch at Pingle's Farm but it was decidedly dead by the time of the year we reached it. In spite of those conditions, there were plenty more photogenic places with lots of rustic textures and moody vibes (despite being a family farm). I think my best quality as a photographer is not only my interest in composition, but being able to suit any location and see it's potential. I live in a relatively small city, so I need to improvise often. There wasn't much to improvise since Jessie already look so darn lovely!
As well, and of course, accompanying film! As well as these photos, this one is probably my favourite films so far as it required a lot of mental story-boarding along the way and turned out simply dreamy.
Find magic and whimsy with starring model Jessie Darling in an enchanting tour of beauty and soul. The Romance of Mysticism film is a short fashion feature that includes ad behind-the-scenes look at the shoot, its inspiration and the mood it captures. Filmed and edited by Courtney Reader.
